ABOUT ANDEAN MOUNTAIN COFFEE COMPANY
The Andean Mountain Coffee Company began after a visit to South America where the company founders met local Ecuadorian coffee farmers. The desire to help the farmer earn direct profit from their labor evolved into a mutually respectful relationship of fair trade practices with the Ecuadorian Coffee Producers. This act of kindness Sparked the creation of the Andean Mountain Coffee Company.
OUR STORY
"Better we raise our skill than lower the climb"-Royal Robbins
Gilson (Gil) and George embarked on a life journey to explore their love of coffee in 1999. Both Gil and George were Local 3 NY electricians who, while on the job site together, were discussing their love of coffee; when Gil explained his family background in his country of birth , Ecuador! Gil with excitation in his voice explained to George the beauty of his family's country and his fond memory of the coffee smell throughout the air. Gil said to George you have to visit to really experience the essence of where coffee comes from. Shortly thereafter George and Gil were on a plane to a date with destiny.
Gil and George raised enough capital to start Andean Mountain Coffee and buying their own plots of land within a close proximity to the Andean Mountains closest to Quito and the rest is history. Birthed in the bean Gil and George enjoy years of experience and the right to call themselves " accomplished cuppers". The most valuable lesson that Gil and George learned was best summed up in the quote above when it comes to coffee: "better we raise our skill than lower our climb." The best coffee comes from the highest altitudes and that is where the cherries that produce the largest and greenest raw beans from their shells is what Andean Mountain skill set has achieved. The proof is in the cup of coffee Gil and George are excited for you to try. George is famous for saying , " once you try my coffee you will be coming back for more."
COFFEE for a CAUSE!
In April of 2001, The Andean Mountain Coffee Company began selling coffee on the streets of new York City; 5 months before the tragic events of 9/11. We were on the street able to see first hand the devastation of the event. In order to thank first responders who risked and gave their lives, each order of coffee directly donates a portion of the purchase to the tunnel to towers🔗 foundation or the island harvest🔗 food bank.
